FALL OUT BOY
     Fall Out Boy

Growing up in a suburb of Chicago where parents push their kids to follow in their white-collar footsteps, Patrick Stump told Fox All Access that “music was kind of a way of getting to the world. It felt like I was living in a small town, even though I wasn’t. It kind of had that vibe to it where you just wanted to get out.”

So Patrick Stump became a rock star, as the singer/guitarist for Fall Out Boy. He’s also the one who takes bassist Pete Wentz’s words and puts them to music. (The FOB lineup also includes guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley.)

Following the double-platinum success of “From Under The Cork Tree” and its million-selling follow-up, “Infinity On High,” Patrick says he’s accomplished his goal –.“At my high school, the distinguished alumni would include the girl who starred in ‘Carrie 2: The Rage,’ a writer for ‘Roseanne,’ and myself.”

“Thanks, Pat, but we don’t need to buy a vowel!”

Fall Out Boy have long been known for their rather, ahem, unusual song titles – nuggets like “I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me” and “Champagne For My Real Friends, Real Pain For My Sham Friends” spring immediately to mind.

That trend continues with the disem-vowel-ed “Thnks Fr Th Mmrs.” (“Thanks For The Memories,” for those of you who don’t play along with “Wheel Of Fortune” at home.)

It’s the second single from “Infinity On High,” which became the group’s first #1 CD when it was released in February.

The guys are currently spending their summer headlining the Honda Civic Tour, which runs through the beginning of July.
